Private Investigator reveals: Why Men Cheat

I suspect every woman who’s ever been cheated on by her husband or even “just” her boyfriend, has asked the sorrowful question, “Why do men cheat?”

As a Private Investigator I’ve worked a lot of infidelity cases and many women have asked me “why?”.

Sometimes, after a surveillance, when she watching the video evidence I bring her, my client will ask me, “What does she have that I don’t?”

It’s a heartbreaking question, but the truth is, it’s not about “the other woman”, it’s 99% about the man. And he is simply being selfish. He is choosing what he thinks will make him happy rather than choosing to take the opportunity to do the honorable thing and become a better person by doing the right thing!

Note: If a woman knows her “boyfriend” is in a committed relationship with someone else, she does share responsibility.

Here’s what I hear a lot of…

The Guesses

Women suspect the “other woman” is:
prettier
thinner
more attentive
a better lover
younger

And one or more of those things may be true, but that ain’t why he’s cheating.

The Excuses

Or the man will make excuses like…

you’re frigid
you don’t like to go out
you’re always at work
you don’t “get me”
you’re not supportive of my ideas/plans
you treat me like garbage
Etc., etc, etc…
(Notice he always makes it about you, not him. Hint: It’s always about him.)

Heck, he may even believe these excuses himself! But they are not the real reason he’s cheating!

This is the main cause of cheating. This is why men cheat:

Men cheat because they are choosing to be selfish.

Yes, it is a choice!

And, yes, it is purely them choosing what they (think) they want rather than being honorable.

I hope learning this is at least somewhat helpful for you.

Want to know how you should act?

Here it is…

Be who you were created to be and you will set the world on fire!

Should you take domestic cases as a Private Investigator?

You should consider taking infidelity (AKA: cheaters) cases as a private investigator if you want to expand your billable services, increases your revenue and if you have the skills to work cheating cases well!

Here are same things to consider…

Pro: These cases increase the billable hours and especially surveillance to increases your revenue.

Con: You have to market to each potential client to get infidelity cases.

When you work for “repeat” clients like law firms, they choose you once and you work for them over and over again. With Cheating husband or wife cases, you need to go out and get each client for the one time case you’re working for them.

Con: You need to educate your clients on each and every case you take.

Again, your attorney clients understand what to expect from your work. These individual clients that call, you need to really set their expectations on what you can bring them and make sure they are clear on how expensive these cases can be!

Summary

If you have the skills to serve your clients well on infidelity cases, and you want (or need!) the extra income from these cases, then seriously consider accepting them.

In the meantime, this is Larry Kaye reminding you to do the right thing, even if it’s the hard thing.

3 Good Reasons

This week’s Private Investigator training is about mobile surveillance and three good reasons not to follow your subject inside when they arrive at a destination.

1. Better video when they exit.

You will get much better video of them leaving if you remain outside and set up to film them as they leave the building.

Set your camera to get a good establishing shot to prove the location. That means video of any signage and the address if you can. Then pan back to just the doorway or wider area where you expect them too come out.

When they open the door to leave, you’ll be set to capture it on video.

And remember, sometimes you get better (more candid and even more intimate video) when they leave.

For example: They may walk out of a bar and begin kissing the woman they’re leaving with. Or Kiss her when they get to her car. That’s great footage especially considering they may not have felt that “free” to make-out in the bar!

2. It’s easier to follow your subject when they leave.

If you are already outside, in you vehicle and positioned to follow them, you will have a much easier time following them to their next destination.

If you’ve been inside with them, you have to time it just right to follow them out, get to you car and follow them and that is very, very tricky.

Of course the “easy” way isn’t always the “right” way to do something. You have to use your best judgment on these things!

IMPORTANT NOTE: Don’t be a follower. Be a student! Study my ideas. Study other experts’ ideas and make a decision for yourself! Don’t just follow anyone’s advice blindly!

3. Your client may not need or want inside video!

This is huge!

If your client doesn’t need video of the subject in a bar, but only of the subject going to a bar, then there’s no need to go inside and risk being burned.

If you client only needs video of the subject driving, then there’s probably no goo reason to follow them into a store. Just set up to follow them when they depart and you’ll get more video of them driving!

If this free training makes sense to you and you want to lean more about how to follow someone as a professional investigator, then you’re a good candidate for my course The Investigator’s Ultimate Guide to Surveillance where I teach absolutely everything.

3 Books to Explain Private Investigator Marketing

I’ve preached for years that marketing each of your private investigator services separately (most of the time) allows you to target your marketing.

Customers (your potential clients!) want the product or service that solves their exact problem. And they think their problem is special.

They want the investigator who can solve their exact problem!

If a potential client needs you to locate her ex-husband and deadbeat dad, who is she  more likely to call:

1. The P.I. advertising that he does skip tracing, background checks, surveillance, infidelity cases, etc.

Or…

2. The P.I. that has a blog post titled “How a Private Investigator can help with collecting back Child Support”.

Sure, you do “everything”. I get it. So do I! But, clients have a specific problem and they want the professional investigator who can solve their special problem.

In a nutshell, they want the specialist.

That means, have marketing materials that address specific problems potential clients might have. Different blog post. Maybe even different websites! They can link back to your detective agency home page if you want.

Heck, they can even have different phone numbers so when you get a call you know what marketing is working and what to stop spending you time on!

I cover this and more in my book How to Make Money as a Private Investigator
